Your Cause or Mine?

I recently heard that membership to online dating sites see a tremendous spike in January. It could be the need to cuddle up with someone special during the cold winter months or get a jump on a resolution to find that special someone.Whatever it is, those who are in the market won't find a shortage of platforms to sign up on based on your interests. There's BlackPeopleMeet, ChristianSingles, FarmersOnly (I still can't believe that one),  ChristianSingles, JDate...the list goes on and on.And now there's YourCauseorMine.com.  YoursCauseIt’s a dating site that matches people based on the causes they support, like the environment or women’s rights.YourCauseorMine.com has all the trimmings of a normal dating site, with boxes to check for body type, religion, and whether you want children. But adding the cause component makes a big difference: instead of letting you connect over an awkward coffee, YourCauseOrMine suggests local volunteer events to attend together. The free service targets those 18 - 65 and matches based on stated interests, as well as activity on the site: what profiles you view, whom you message, and what events you attend. CEO Fred Roby, a former senior manager at MySpace, helped develop the algorithms behind MySpace’s newsfeed, and he’s using some of the same principles with YourCauseOrMine. It's a cute premise. Do you think it'll work?
