Cause Marketing Feature:Macy's, Feeding America
I often have dreams of hosting fabulous dinner parties. There'd be opulent chandeliers and the air would be heavily scented with bergamot. Tables would be swathed in chocolate brown velvet tablecloths topped with cream runners and vases brimming over with calla lilies. Gold chargers would hold the finest china and the stemware would be crafted of delicate crystal. Twenty of my very best friends and I (all decked out in the most sought after designer labels, of course) would sup on a luxe meal accented by the best South African wines and we'd finish off with red velvet tarts. Now I have an excuse to make it happen. This fall, Macy's and Feeding America will partner along with the likes of Usher, Tommy Hilfiger, Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah and others to raise ten million meals for American Families in need. The campaign, called ‘Come Together,’ asks consumers to host dinner parties and have guests make a donation to Feeding America instead of the usual host gift. Macy's has even created a micro-site which will give wanna-be Martha Stewarts the ABCs of hosting a fab dinner fete.To get the word out, Macy’s is hosting the "World’s Largest Dinner Party" event at all of its 650 U.S. stores on Sept. 15. (Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse will be present at the Herald Square New York flagship location.) Count me in!Bon appetite and cheers to a sparkling idea!
