They say that if you want to know what someone truly values, you look at what they spend their money on. In the case of President Barack Obama, it’s pretty clear that education is one of his top agenda items.
Last week, it was announced that Obama will donate his $1.4 million 2009 Nobel Peace Prize award to 10 charities. Seven of those 10 are focused on the furthering of education for the under-served and minorities. The College Fund, United Negro College Fund, Hispanic Scholarship Fund and The Posse Foundation lead the pack and will receive 125K each.
It should come as no surprise that top billing will go to a cause tied to the President’s #1 agenda item: health-care: $250,000 to Fisher House, a group that helps provide housing for families of patients receiving medical care at military and Veterans Affairs medical centers.
Rock on Barack. Rock. On.
